I grew up in Lander, Wyoming, next to the Wind River Mountains and Wind River Indian Reservation. I attended the University of Wyoming where I completed my B.A. in English, Secondary Certification Requirements for grades 7 – 12, and earned my M.A. in English. My university is the OTHER UW.
I moved to Wisconsin in 1983 and have been teaching at Jefferson Middle School for the past 19 years, and I currently teach Eighth Grade Language Arts Writing. Working with eighth graders is wonderful because they are willing to try new ideas in the classroom and want to have fun with learning.
I was born and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan. In 2005, I graduated from Stevenson High School. In order to pursue my lifelong passion for teaching and working with children, I chose to attend Michigan State University for their exceptional College of Education. My husband and I live in the country with our two cats. Our own children were students in this district not too long ago. I know the Jefferson School District provides an education that allows students to achieve their dreams because my children were able to attend the colleges of their choice. Our son graduated from Beloit College and our daughter graduated from DePaul University in Chicago.
I look forward to teaching here for many years to come. I feel fortunate to work in a district where we have a great staff, effective administrators, and taxpayers (I am one) who funded a new high school for the youth of our community.

Biography
Mr. Schrader is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade science at the Eugenio Maria do Hostos Charter School. He has previously taught the following subjects at the high school level: Regents Chemistry, General Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, Forensics, and Animal Behavior.

Why Science?
Science not only explains most of the phenomenon we see in the physical and living worlds, but it gives the learner a lens through which to answer questions and investigate the reasons behind what they see.
Science is so broad and so deep that an individual can spend a lifetime studying science and still not know all there is to know.
Science can also offer career options for those who discover they enjoy science enough to pursue an education in a scientific field.
