Sharing your new favorite podcast can be difficult, as it often requires you to convince someone else to open a new app to see if your hype is warranted. Fortunately, one app has found a new way. 'What its champions romanticize as 'the sharing economy' is a disguised form of exploitation and self exploitation by the masters of our new order of 'flexible' neo-liberal capitalism. This richly detailed, informative, and entertaining podcast helps to unmask the masquerade.' Spotify organizes podcasts in a variety of categories, such as Storytellers, Sports & Recreation, and Comedy, and users can subscribe to individual podcasts, manage downloads, and share podcasts.

Pocket Casts allows you to easily share a list of podcasts so that people can browser them and even subscribe directly to ones they find interesting.

To share a lists of podcasts

1. Go to the podcast tiles page in the app
2. Tap the more options icon in the top right of the page
3. Choose the Share Podcasts option
4. Choose either Select all or tap the podcasts you’d like to include in this list
5. Tap Next
6. Provide a title and optionally a description
7. When you’re done, tap share to create the share list
8. You’ll be given a URL you can send to people (or post on social media).

A universal link means everyone can find your show

One of the greatest frustrations when it comes to sharing your podcast is that people listen on different devices. For a long time sharing your podcast to iPhone AND Android users was a nightmare because there wasn’t a universal link that worked on all devices.

This is obviously a problem because when you’re promoting your podcast you want it to be available to as many people as possible.

So how do you share your show so it’s accessible to everyone?

Share a link to your website

I’ll caveat this by saying you should only share your podcast this way if it’s SUPER easy to listen to your show on your website.

Ideally, you want to remove as much friction as possible for potential listeners so they don’t get bored and move on. And friction includes them needing to click a bunch of times to get to the right page.

You want to set up your website so when someone clicks the link there’s a button to play the episode right in front of them. As well as any links they need to subscribe.

Generate a Podnews subscribe page

Podnews is a website with heaps of podcasting news and information. It’s also a place where you can generate a simple subscriber page for your show.

Just search for your podcast and you’ll be taken to a page that has your logo, badges for Apple and Google Podcasts and a simple player. As well as some interesting stats about your show.

Share your podcast host show page

Your podcast host will generate a show page for your podcast and these will often contain icons for the different directories where your show can be found.

These vary a lot between hosts so check yours out and decide whether it’s a simple enough way to share your show.

Create a Smart URL

This is a website that allows you to create a number of different actions when someone clicks on a link.

You can send people to different websites depending on where they are in the world or what device they are on and this can give you a lot of flexibility.

There’s plenty of options so it’s worth playing around and testing the link to make sure it works the way you want it to.

Get a playpodca.st URL

This is the way I share my shows because it’s SUPER simple.

It costs a little bit of money (not much) but you get a URL that’s unique to your show.

For my interview show, You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere, the URL is https://playpodca.st/ygss and for PodSchool it’s https://playpodca.st/podschool

Ride Sharing Podcasts

When you click on the link users are automatically taken to either Google Podcasts or Apple Podcasts depending on what phone they’re on. Genius!

When some people still don’t know how to listen to a podcast this link removes 100% of the friction because they’re automatically taken to the place they can listen and subscribe.
